Triple Bunk Beds – Shopping for Bunk Beds

Triple bunk beds are popular additions to a child’s bedroom especially if you’re planning to maximize a limited floor space. With this setup, three kids can share the same room and get to enjoy having their own beds at the same time. There are all sorts of designs that you can choose from depending on the space alloted for the room.

Stacked beds

The most common design of a triple bunk bed consists of three single beds literally stacked on top of each other. This design is ideal for small children and rooms that have high ceilings. A standard triple-decker can go over seven feet tall. If you’re going to let really small kids sleep on the bunk bed, you will want to get one in which the lowest bunk is at ground level so as to reduce the height of the bunk. Make sure that it is sturdy enough to hold all children at the same time. If it creaks or sways when shaken, it’s probably not strong enough.

Lofts

Another triple bunk bed design includes a small double bed at the bottom and a single bed on the top bunk. This type is good for accommodating sleepovers but is not advisable for long-term use. It’s much better to have this type of bunk for two children sharing a room although an argument may come up over who gets to sleep on the bigger bunk. Another design that will also work is the loft bunk where in the third bunk is perpendicular to the one at the top. This one is a definite space saver because it is made to stand on one corner of the room.
